Here to Serve You
I have two children, my younger daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome at 6 weeks old. I have completed advocacy training through both the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys, and the William & Mary Law School Institute for Special Education Advocacy. I have assisted parents in Ohio and throughout the U.S. in advocating to obtain effective and appropriate services and supports for their child. I look forward to assisting you!
I am able to work with clients within a travel-time range of 45 minutes from the west side of Cleveland. This includes all of Cuyahoga county, eastern Lorain county, and sections of Medina county which border Cuyahoga county.
To use both your and my time effectively, please locate and make copies of your child's most recent IEP, progress reports, ETR, and FBA/BIP. Also, clients must have full custody of and educational decision-making power for the child in question.
IEP DOCUMENT REVIEW
IEP documents are complex; they consist of many parts and there are various crucial steps which must be part of an effective and comprehensive IEP process.
IN-PERSON ADVOCACY ASSISTANCE
Meetings with your child's Special Education or IEP Team can be stressful. Part of my assistance is to attend school meetings to support your efforts to advocate for your child and obtain appropriate supports and services. My goal is to work proactively and diplomatically with school staff to help create a positive learning environment so that your child can learn, achieve, and thrive.
EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENT REVIEW
Because the special education process is complex, your child may have a constantly-growing educational file. There are evaluation results, test scores and assessment results, medical letters-of-necessity, and Functional Behavior Assessment data and reports. All of this information is crucial to gaining an understanding of your child's educational picture and needs. I will review your child's file and assess whether it addresses your child's needs and your concerns about your child's progress.
